Tips

9-1-1 should only be used in case of an emergency.

An emergency is a life-threatening situation, crime in progress, or serious crime that just occurred. Obviously, there are many other situations that requires police response but are not really 9-1-1 type calls.

How 9-1-1 Can Work For You!

When you call 9-1-1 for emergency, it is important that you remain calm and be prepared to answer the dispatchers questions. The "WHAT", "WHEN", "WHERE", "HOW" and "WHO" of the situation your are reporting are extremely important.

Lighting

At night, properly placed lighting will deter burglars.

Doors

All exterior doors should be constructed of steel, aluminum alloy, or solid core hardwood. Glass doors should have burglar-resistant glass installed. The frame of the door must be as strong as the door.
